Download SkyGazer 4.5

You can download an unregistered copy of SkyGazer 4.5 and test-drive it before buying. The downloaded version is identical to the version that we ship on CD-ROM. However, until you register your copy, SkyGazer will only display a small portion of the objects in its database, and will not recieve data or program updates. Check out the Getting Started pages in our Support section for a guided tour.

If you have already registered your copy of SkyGazer 4.5, save the "Registration.txt" file inside your old SkyGazer 4.5 folder. Copy it into your new SkyGazer 4.5 folder to avoid having to register the new version again.

To register your copy of SkyGazer 4.5, which will unlock its full database and feature set, order a SkyGazer serial number, or order the program on CD-ROM. Once you have recieved your serial number, you can register your copy of SkyGazer.

Installation instructions for Mac OS X users

The Mac OS X version of SkyGazer 4.5 is distributed as a compressed disk image file.

1. Download the disk image file.
2. Double-click the file's icon to mount the image on your desktop
3. Copy the SkyGazer 4.5 folder from the disk image to the Applications folder on your hard drive.
4. To un-install, drag the SkyGazer 4.5 folder on your hard drive to the trash.

Installation instructions for Windows users

The Windows version of the demo is distributed as a self-extracting installer executable.

1. Download the installer executable.
2. Double-click the file's icon.
3. Follow the instructions in the installer screen.
4. To un-install, go to the Start menu > Programs > Carina Software > SkyGazer 4.5 > Uninstall SkyGazer 4.5, or use the "Add/Remove Programs" control panel.

Please Note: you must run the SkyGazer installer from an account with administrative priveleges! It won't work otherwise. If this happens, log off Windows and log on again as Administrator, or contact your system administrator for help. See the SkyGazer FAQ page for more information.

Problems with the Download?

If you have problems downloading these files, please check to make sure that the exact size of the file you've downloaded (in bytes) matches the file sizes above. If they do not match, the download was incomplete or corrupted. Please try to download it again or contact us at support@carinasoft.com, let us know which version you need, and we'll try to include it via email. You can also purchase a copy on CD-ROM.

Registering Your Copy

SkyGazer is UNREGISTERED when it is first installed. An unregistered copy has the following limitations, but is otherwise fully functional:

• Cannot download any data or software updates.
• Cannot display any stars fainter than magnitude 7.
• Cannot display any deep sky objects fainter than magnitude 10.
• Cannot display more than 10 asteroids/comets/spacecraft.

Registration gives you:

• Automatic download of new asteroid, comet, and satellite data; and software updates.
• Display of 312,000 stars to 9th magnitude, including the SKY2000 and Hipparcos catalogs.
• Display of 15,400 deep sky objects to 12th magnitude, including the entire NGC and IC catalogs.
• Display of 5000 asteroids, 500 comets, and 500 satellites/spacecraft.
• Technical Support.

To register, you will need to purchase a SkyGazer 4.5 serial number, or a SkyGazer 4.5 CD-ROM, from Carina Software. The serial number will be sent to you by e-mail, and should arrive in your inbox within a few minutes of your order. Once you have recieved your serial number:

1. Launch SkyGazer 4.5 with your computer connected to the internet.
2. Select the SkyGazer 4.5 menu (Mac OS X) or Help menu (Windows) from the main menu bar.
3. Select the Registration... command.
4. Enter your serial number and fill in the other registration information.
5. Click the Register button.

If online registration fails, you can register over the telephone. Please call Carina Software at +1 (925) 838-0695 during West Coast business hours (Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific time) to register by phone.

You can install and register SkyGazer 4.5 on up to two (2) computers for your own personal use. Installing SkyGazer on more than two computers requires the purchase of additional serial number(s) and/or a multiple-installation site license. You may re-install and re-register the software on the same computer an unlimited number of times.
